It was through life experience that my first full-length poetry album, “My Voice” was created. It was inspired by the many voices that make us who we are, the same voices that give us hope through trying times, the ones that spoke to our souls, the voices that cannot be silenced even after death. It was also inspired by the young brothers and sisters on Division Street in Humboldt Park, along 18th Street in Pilsen and 26th in Little Village, in all of Chicago, and the voices through out the world that are oppressed by colonialism, white supremacy, neoliberalism and globalization. From Saginaw MI to Paseo Boricua.
